Word up.
I’ve been cultivating my ’stache since el primero del February, and El Dia can’t come any sooner. I’m going to be in Miami the week before, without any regard for how ridiculous my face will look after I finally part with the ’stache after a week of Southern Florida sun. On the eve of El Dia, I’m going to a wedding for a couple I’ve never met, and I will make damn sure my mustache is prominently displayed in their wedding album for decades to come. I’m taking an early flight back on Saturday morning to make it to El Dia in time.
Good luck with your ’staches, gentlemen. El Dia shall be a glorious dia.

As the Chief Executive Officer of the American Mustache Institute - the center of the mustache world and the ACLU of people of Mustached American descent - I must say that we, as an organization, believe your contest is a bit short-sighted.
While you are championing the greatness of the Labia Sebucula (Latin for “lip sweater”), disallowing such fine cookie dusting style as the horseshoe or Fu Manchu is unconscionable.
In future years, you should re-evaluate this policy and consider the broader mustache community.
Carry on,
Dr. Froman

Dear Dr Froman,
A tip of the stache to you and your esteemed organization. Let me be clear, The Board of El Dia Del Mustache love all our facial fur-clad brothers. As an American of mustached descent myself, I have been fighting for the rights of my people for 30+ years and will continue to do so until my last dying breath.
However, in recent years there has been a disturbing trend in men’s fashion. The classic “mustache” has slowly been disappearing from the faces of young men, replaced by fancy, modern creations such as the “goatee” or the “humbuckler.” Just as many people bemoan the disappearance of traditional print media in place of online, we at The Board bemoan the disappearance of the traditional mustache. In the midst of these demoralizing conditions, The Board instituted what would later come to be universally recognized as the most important day on the calendar: El Dia Del Mustache. Now in it’s 6th year, The Board believes that we have helped increase awareness of this issue, as well as global warming and the alarming reduction in Bluefin Tuna populations across the Atlantic.
We look forward to seeing the Good Doctor as well as the rest of the American Mustache Institute executives at this year’s El Dia Del Mustache being held tomorrow 3/28/09.
Good day,
Fitzy
Member of the Board, El Dia Del Mustache
